New registrations of leisure vehicles with strong result in October

With 6,380 new leisure vehicle registrations, the caravanning industry achieved a strong result in October. Although new registrations fell by 3.2 per cent compared to the same month last year, given the exceptionally high figure in October 2020 and the ongoing problems in the supply chains, the past month can be considered a success. This is also shown by a comparison with 2019. Compared to the month of October two years ago, new registrations rose by almost 60 percent.

In terms of the calendar year 2021, new registrations have developed very positively to date. They have risen by 1.8 percent since January. 96,625 newly registered leisure vehicles represent a new record for the first ten months of a year.

In line with the overall development of the leisure vehicle market, new registrations of caravans fell in October. 1,366 units registered for the first time means a minus of 18.7 percent compared to the same month last year. Nevertheless, new registrations are at the same level as October 2019. Therefore – and in view of the exceptionally high value from 2020 – the caravan segment achieved a satisfactory result.

Looking at 2021 to date in its entirety, new caravan registrations fell by 12.4 percent. The decline is primarily explained by delivery problems with raw materials and components. A total of 23,071 new caravans have been registered since the beginning of the year.

New motor caravan registrations in October exceeded the fantastic figure from the previous year. They increased by 2.1 per cent to 5,014 compared to the same month in 2020 and reached a new high for the month of October. This continues the positive trend in new motor caravan registrations this year. Between January and October, 73,554 motor caravans were put on the market for the first time. This is 7.3 percent more than in the first ten months of the record year 2020 and, thus, more than ever before in this period.
