On 28 Aug 2016, the press conference for AIC 2017 – the 6th All in CARAVANING was held at the news center of CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF in Germany. Mr. Michael Degen, Executive Director of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, Mr. Axel Bartkus, General Manager of Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Mr. Konstantin Abert, who has had rich caravan tour experiences in China, and Mrs. Yang Bei, AIC Caravan Ambassador addressed at the conference.

The conference started on time at 10 am. Mr. Michael Degen delivered a welcome address to the media. He said, “The caravaning and camping industry has been flourishing in China and is now undergoing rapid growth, benefiting AIC 2016, which was held in Beijing during 18 to 20 June this year, as a favorable atmosphere in the industry is one of the critical factors to the success of the trade show. Meanwhile, AIC has gained extensive industry experience and comprehensive caravan expertise from its parent company, Messe Düsseldorf. Under the cooperation with our partners, we are very happy to see AIC’s tremendous achievements over the past five years.”

Mr. Michael Degen continued: "Quite a number of top manufacturers for caravan and components in Germany and Europe have become important exhibitors of AIC. Despite the fact that China's economy is relatively weaker than developed markets, it remains the world's largest caravan market with potentials that should not be underestimated. Moreover, it will continue to offer increasingly more business opportunities in the future. This is also the reason why we want to learn from CARAVAN SALON in our development of AIC. We make adjustments to AIC every year in order to better satisfy the demand and expectations of the Chinese caravan market. We have faith in AIC 2017 to bring us yet another success story. ”

Following Michael Degen's exciting remarks, Mr. Axel Bartkus shared with the media a detailed overview of AIC 2016 and an outlook into AIC 2017.

According to Mr. Axel Bartkus, the number of Chinese caravan manufacturers has increased from 53 in 2015 to 110 in 2016. There are now 230 existing and new caravan component producers instead of 150 in 2015. The caravan industry in China has maintained a stable annual sales growth, which averages at 20%. In 2015 and 2016, construction of campgrounds across China developed rapidly under great support, resulting in about 370 completed campgrounds nationwide, and another 400 at the planning phase. In 2015, the Standardization Administration of PRC introduced the “Standard of Construction and Service for Recreational Campground”. Meanwhile, the State Council published the “Several Opinions on Further Promoting Tourism-related Investment and Consumption”, which pointed out that the government shall encourage and guide social resources towards campground development and establish around 1,000 campgrounds by 2020.

When talking about perspectives on AIC 2017, Mr. Axel Bartkus explained, "Next year, the exhibition space will reach 33,000 square meters, attracting a total of 650 exhibitors and possibly 25,000 visitors (including professional buyers).

Then Mr. Konstantin Abert shared his interesting experiences and impressions of China from his many caravan tours in the country. Mrs. Yang Bei from China has been selected as the China Caravan Ambassador during AIC 2015. She bought a caravan from Great Wall in 2013 and since then started her caravan tours, visiting 36 European countries and experiencing along the way different scenery and local people.

Following the presentations was the media Q&A session. The media has actively proposed questions, creating a lively atmosphere at the event.

The next All in CARAVANING takes place at the Beijing Exhibition Centre from 23 to 25 June 2017.
