CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF: The Highlights of the Year

The No. 1 Trade Fair for Motor Homes and Caravans

At this year’s CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF from Friday, 30 August (trade visitor and media day) to Sunday, 8 September, 2013, the international trade will once again convene to experience this annual highlight. Caravanning enthusiasts will have ten days to discover new vehicle models, smart upgrade options and practical accessories for their favourite hobby. Director Helmut Winkler is excited: “In Halls 9 to 17 of the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre, as well as at the open outdoor areas, CARAVAN SALON will offer the largest selection centred on mobile leisure products worldwide. Demand from exhibiting companies has been so huge that all halls are completely booked already.” 570 international exhibitors representing 120 caravan and mobile home brands will participate in this year’s CARAVAN SALON, showcasing a total of approximately 1,800 recreational vehicles in all price ranges.

A fireworks of vehicle presentations
Of course, the 2013 CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF will once again deliver a veritable fireworks of vehicle presentations. Compact, versatile, aero-dynamic, clean and safe vehicles will be shown. Particularly motor homes for everyday use are gaining steadily in popularity, with fuel-efficient innovations, lightweight designs and compact dimensions playing an ever-greater role. Recreational vehicles come in all conceivable sizes and types, with many different layout options and individually configured interiors. From small and simple caravans for two people to compact vans or campers, family caravans and alcove motor homes all the way to luxury motor homes – the possibilities in Düsseldorf are virtually unlimited. Anyone itching to go on a journey with a recreational vehicle will find what they need, no matter what vehicle category they might be considering.

The entire market will be represented in Düsseldorf
It’s not just the vehicles themselves that will be represented in Düsseldorf. To the contrary: CARAVAN SALON is so popular with visitors precisely because it also offers such huge variety and thematic diversity. Besides motor homes and caravans caravanning fans can expect a complete assortment of accessories, upgrade parts, camping gear, tents, mobile homes, as well as travel destinations, camping sites and motor home parks. Halls 9 to 12 as well as Halls 14, 16 and 17 will be reserved for vehicles. Industrial suppliers will be located in Hall 13. Offerings from the tent, accessories and tourism sectors will be presented together in Hall 15 this year, while mobile homes will be found at the outdoor area. Visitors who are newcomers to the world of caravanning will have an opportunity to test drive a motor home or caravan at the outdoor area in front of Hall 4. Several manufacturers will make their vehicles available for just this purpose. This year we’ll actually get to celebrate a small anniversary: since the move in 1994 this is Düsseldorf’s 20th time hosting the no. 1 trade fair for motor homes and caravans.

High-value raffle to win fantastic vehicles
Besides its info stand the German Caravanning Industry Association (CIVD) will also hold a special exhibition. It’ll be called “Experience Caravanning” this year, and visitors can look forward to attractive experience and activity stations designed for maximum fun. In addition CIVD will hold a spectacular raffle: visitors will have the opportunity to win an exquisite Fendt Brillant 465 SFB caravan valued at over 31,000 euros, as well as a Knaus Van TI 550 MD luxury motor home valued at around 50,000 euros. It’s definitely going to be worth participating!

Special off-road exhibition: Experience, emotion and a thirst for adventure
A special exhibition this year will be dedicated to the “off-road” theme. Lovers of all-terrain vehicles will be thrilled about the opportunity to test these machines to their heart’s content at the outdoor area. Alternatively visitors can choose to experience the special driving enjoyment provided by these off-road powerhouses from a passenger’s perspective as they’re being chauffeured across the adventure course. Visitors should brace themselves for a blast of horsepower, thrill and emotion.

A destination for the whole family
Again this year CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF will offer an informative and entertaining programme to supplement the exhibitors’ offerings. At the Dream Tour Cinema Konstantin Abert – who will recount his journey around the world – along with Jeanette Emerich and Uwe Hamm will arouse visitors’ wanderlust as they whisk them off to unique travel destinations. Children and teenagers will find plenty of stuff to do at CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF, too. All-day action and fun will be guaranteed at the outdoor area. While children and teenagers can blow off steam at the Adventure Camp organised by the City Sports Association Düsseldorf, younger kids will stay busy playing, face-painting and enjoying the colourful action programme at the Worker Welfare Association’s stand.

Many caravanning enthusiasts prefer to travel to the event in their own vehicle. During CARAVAN SALON some 30,000 visitors will spend the night in their own vehicle at Messe Düsseldorf’s Caravan Center. The large car park north of the exhibition centre boasts more than 2,000 serviced and non-serviced pitches.

TourNatur held in parallel in Halls 1 and 2
The hiking and trekking fair TourNatur will once again be held in parallel on the second weekend of the event (6 to 8 September). Hiking enthusiasts will be able to get up-to-date information on the most beautiful hiking destinations and the latest hiking and trekking equipment. 275 exhibitors will present a total of approximately 5,000 travel destinations, while independent hiking experts will offer valuable tips for planning tours or selecting among the latest materials. TourNatur, too, will offer numerous opportunities to get actively involved. This year the special topic “Hiking with Children” will play a central role.
